Who We Are
Ephraim Henry Evans was born in Siegel Township of Brown County, Minnesota. Ephraim Evans' first marriage was to Flora (Ross) Evans in 1885. They lived in Wanda, Minnesota where Ephraim's occupation was farming. They had nine children together, but one died as a child. The eight children remaining were: Bessie Evans Mertz (Henry), Nettie Evans Eichten (John), Mayme "May" Evans Carpenter (Orrin), Florence "Flossie" Evans Wicks (John "Jewel"), Rose Evans May (George*), Merle Evan Lipetzky (Joseph), Victor Evans (Stella Olson) and Frances Evans May (Conrad**).
Flora Evans died in 1903 of myocarditis, which is inflammation of the heart muscle.
Anna Schmitz's first marriage was to John May. Their children were Kathryn "Katie" May Fox (Leo), George May (Rose Evans* and Anna Peterson) and Conrad May (Frances Evans**). They also had four children that died young.
John May died in 1900. We could not find any information on the cause of his death.
Three years after Flora's passing and six years after John's passing, Ephraim Evans married Anna Schmitz May. They continued to live in Wanda, Minnesota. In addition to the eleven children they brought to this union, they added seven more children. One of those children, Ephraim, died at age two. The children from this marriage were: George Evans (Gertrude "Gertie" Olson****), Ernest "Ernie" Evans (Verda Green), Leone Evans Hengel-Wagner (Peter Hengel and Otto Wagner), Otis "Ottie" Evans (Anna Jenniges***), Clinton Evan (Tathilda "Tillie" Jenniges***) and Evelyn Evans Olson (Wilbur "Rube" Olson****).
Ephraim died in 1925 of lobar pneumonia, acute nephritis disease and intestinal influenza. Anna died in 1949 from complications of diabetes.
Of the three combined families, all children were born in Minnesota.

Ephraim's father, Henry George Evans was born in England. His mother, Anna Ramsey McBride, was born in Ireland of parents who originated from England. Ephraim's parents farmed in Minnesota and then homesteaded in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. Then moved back to Minnesota.
Flora's father Walter Ross was born in Massachusetts. Her mother was from Ohio. It was known that her father's family were of Irish decent.
